What we have come to realise is that it’s almost impossible to tick every box as there will always be a compromise on any vehicle build.

With that being said, my wife and I have just returned from a 6-week Overland trip to Zimbabwe and Botswana, and we both agree that the single-cab 79 auto with the

Bushwakka Kamelback version 2 build has exceeded our expectations so much so that we were constantly stopped on our trip by people enquiring and complimenting this build.

So a big “ hats off “ to Bushwakka for a great camper conversion build.

Good morning guys from a sunny but windy Bufffels bay.

We would like to say a big thank you to Riaan and his team who we sensed pulled out all the stops to get everything done on the Landcruiser kamelback camper conversion for the Friday so we could travel to Knysna the following day.

We love the build, we can see much thought has gone into the major and minor design detail. Everything is catered for with this design.

We are so glad and pleased we decided to go with Bushwakka over your competitors.

Simplicity is the key to this clever design, how you have adapted your caravan design to fit this unit on to the bakkie

On August 17th, we picked up our new Kamelback and received instructions on how to set it up and close it down. Despite our excitement, we wondered if we’d remember everything after an hour of learning about all its functions. However, we managed well during the 14 days we spent with it.

We tested the Kamelback in Struisbaai where it withstood wind and water. Our 1.9m x 2m bed was comfortable, and the Cruiser’s air suspension worked well. We also went to Nieuwoudtville for flowers, but the weather was bad. Nonetheless, the Kamelback kept us dry, and opening and closing it was easy with the gas struts.

In Namibia, we used the awning and kitchen often. The power supply, lithium battery, and fridges all worked flawlessly. We were impressed with the hot water system, water tank, pump, and electronic water meter. Though we haven’t tested the shower, the sink at the back was convenient for face washing and shaving.

We could easily walk upright inside, and the bed was simple to make up. Folding it was easy too, and it took only a minute to straighten it from both inside and outside. The Kamelback is perfect for exploring Africa over long distances and living in for extended periods.

Overall, we’re thrilled with our new Kamelback, and it’s going to take some time to personalize it fully.
