Mechanical Design Engineer

Exciting prospects await a Mechanical Design Engineer at the Bushwakka Rotrix Africa Group in Worcester. Bushwakka is a leading manufacturer of off-road camper trailers, renowned for our robust and innovative designs. We are dedicated to delivering top-quality products that enhance the outdoor experiences of our customers.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Join our engineering team to assist in the technical design and management of our range of outdoor products
• Develop and design new trailer models with a focus on durability, functionality, and aesthetic appeal
• Maintain and improve existing designs, ensuring they meet the latest industry standards and customer expectations
• Calculate weight distributions to optimise trailer performance and safety
• Create detailed drawings and DXF files for laser cutting and other manufacturing processes
• Ensure all designs are completed on schedule to meet production deadlines
• Collaborate with production teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into the manufacturing process
• Design with production processes and cost efficiency in mind, ensuring that all designs are practical and cost-effective to manufacture
• Manage the integration of new products into production, coordinating with various departments to ensure a smooth transition
• Manage, supervise and train junior draftsman
• Utilise SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design work
• Use Excel/Google Sheets for data management and project tracking
• Leverage MRP (Material Requirements Planning) and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems to enhance design efficiency and production planning
• Solve problems proactively, addressing technical challenges with innovative solutions
• Work independently, demonstrating a high level of self-motivation and initiative

Qualifications:
• Bing or BTech degree in Engineering or a related field
• Proven experience in using SolidWorks for design and engineering tasks
• Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets for data management and analysis
• Strong understanding of weight distribution principles in trailer design.
• Experience in creating detailed drawings and DXF files for manufacturing purposes.
• Knowledge of MRP and PLM systems is highly beneficial.
• Ability to design with production processes and cost efficiency in mind.
• Experience in new product integration into production.

The incumbent should have strong interpersonal skills to ensure a pleasant team spirit. The successful candidate will be offered a market-related package relative to experience and qualifications

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Control the financial planning of the company (budgets, forecasts, cash flow planning)
• Enhance profitability by controlling costs and managing the income statement and balance sheet toward key ratios
• Prepare business activity reports weekly and monthly
• Keeping the working capital cycle as short as possible by controlling stock, debtors, and creditors
• Ensure all statutory requirements are met Oversee operations of the finance department
• Interact with senior management with respect to strategic planning and adding financial intelligence to general business discussions
• Liaise with all finance-related 3rd parties e.g. auditors, banks, SARS, etc.

Qualifications & Skills required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Finance or Accounting with an in-depth knowledge in the field of business administration
• Auditing articles would be an advantage

Bushwakka Africa is urgently looking for a Production Manager to join the Bushwakka team and grow with us.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the correct production plan is being followed while goods are being produced.
  • Implementing plans for the effective use of material and labour resources to achieve production targets through capacity planning.
  • Daily progress monitoring.
  • Enforcing housekeeping of the production floor.
  • Anticipating bottlenecks, clarifying project priorities, Identifying risks, and escalating Issues that cannot be resolved Internally resolved.
  • Effectively plan day-to-day production tasks as set out In the schedule to ensure start to end effective production process.
  • Effectively plan dally work shifts to ensure proper workload distribution.
    Effectively plan weekly and monthly production teams and communicate clear expectations on delivery.
  • Preparing cost estimates and budget for production.
  • Having a good understanding of the financial goals and business targets of the company.
  • Managing production costs.
  • Producing monthly status reports of general production to update the CEO and Operations and Client Services Manager on production times, resources, equipment, customer feedback/issues, quality control, waste disposal, logistics, inventory management etc.
  • Producing capacity plan updates.
  • Conducting dally Inspections to ensure production machinery are operational and efficient.
  • Conducting dally quality checks to ensure that product quality and specification are consistent.
  • Sign off on the quality of each trailer or product before delivery.
  • Arranging for the maintenance, repair, or replacement of damaged equipment and give requests for approval through to the Operations and Client Services Manager.
  • Working with the Operations and Client Services Manager to provide solutions to production challenges or problems.
  • Driving continues Improvement on the products as well as processes.
    Maintaining a tools register.
  • Liaise with other department managers to ensure effective Integration of departments and understanding of requirements.
  • Liaise with procurement/supply chain to ensure that custom parts are available In time.
  • Liaise with sales team to communicate any possible delays or deviations from specs.
  • Contributing to short- and long-term strategies and proposals.
  • Monitoring and supervising the activities of staff to ensure effective performance of job duties and that expectations are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Overseeing the hiring, onboarding, and training of staff to ensure a competent workforce.
  • Ensuring that production process is working in accordance with the policies determined by the management of the company.
  • Monitoring teams to ensure operations are in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Conducting performance reviews and implementing performance management where necessary.
  • Motivating the team to achieve set objectives and targets by setting up rewards for an achievement.
